veryI am always honoured to be asked to perform aboard the Saga ships, both the Pearl 2 and the Sapphire are lovely ships, perfect for that leisurely cruise over the waters of this world! I had the pleasure of performing aboard the Saga Pearl 2 recently and had a great time, as always. The clientele, the staff, the other entertainers, it is always like a big family aboard. This cruise I met some fantastic performers, Kym Purling - International Jazz Pianist, Helen Wilding - Actress/Singer/Superstar and Kevin Lee Harpist extraordinaire. We had a great time sharing performance stories, here is a bit of magic I did for Kym very late one evening! Thank you Saga, I always thoroughly enjoy myself when booked to entertain for you. I look forward to many more engagements!

When you get busy performing at huge corporate events or even large weddings, gigs like this are a joy to be part of. Performing at a private party is different to any other engagement. Sometimes it can even be in a person's own home, even if it is not, private parties are full of people who are the nearest and dearest of the person or persons who are having the celebration.
This means that by the end of the performance I feel like I know that family and groups of friends pretty well. It is always touching to be brought into someone's life for an event that they are cherishing enough to celebrate. In this case it was a joint 70th birthday for John and Jackie at Warren Lodge in Shepperton. There is not much I can say about John and Jackie apart from they are two of the most lovely, friendly and caring people I have ever performed for. Such a great celebration for such great people. Thank you John and Jackie. Maddie and James are such a great couple, they are fun and always have a smile on their faces, as soon as I met Maddie she was insistent that I met her fiancé and that they would have me perform for their guests on their special day at Cain Manor.
Being a bodyguard of David Haye, James is not a small man, when you get asked if you can deal with hecklers at the pre booking meet up you know it is going to be a fun performance! The weather was wonderful, everyone looked great and the atmosphere was joyous. I mingled around for the duration of the drinks reception and stayed behind afterwards to give Maddie and James their own little private performance. I must also give a great thank you to the wonderfully talented Faye Cornhill of Faye Cornhill Photography for the great shots of James, Maddie. Check out here website if you are looking to have any photography done in the future www.fayecornhillphotography.co.uk Many thanks to you both for having me as part of your day, I had a great time with you all. You know you are going to have a great time at a wedding when you turn up and the wedding car is a Shelby Ford GT! Being a big fan of motor racing I skipped inside like a giddy school kid, eager to begin shazaming to see if I could get a ride in it!! ;) Silchester House is another wonderful Bijou wedding venue, I am very lucky to be a 'bijou partner', if I weren't I never would have met this lovely couple! Bijou also have great attention to detail and are fantastic at making the day run smoothly for all of the couples who get married in any of their venues. As I mixed and mingled around the guests I shazamed my way around to Richard's family, thankfully I am very happy to announce that I got the seal of approval from Richard's brother who was a skeptic of the highest order! Thank you Richard and Amy, I hope you are enjoying married life and that you will have many happy memories together for many many years to come! (And Richard... remember, I am always available for Christmas parties!! Nudge nudge wink wink!! Haha!) You never know who you are going t meet and where! I met Ellie at a wedding fair and she knew there and then that a bit of Unbelievable Magic would be a great idea for an event she was planning that was coming up. Thankfully I was free and happy to go along!
It was the Cardinal Newman Ball a fundraiser event so it was packed full of people all having a great time. Drinks were flowing, laughter was had and some much needed money was raised! Events like this can be challenging due to things like sound levels and lighting, centre pieces on tables. However when you have been doing this as long as I have you will have encountered these obstacles many times and know the best ways to make sure your performance isn't compromised by them. It was a rip roaring few hours, one of those gigs you get out and are happy to unload your jacket, get in the car and wind the windows down on the journey back! It may have been hard work but these events are always full of energy and fun, they are fast paced and you ride from high to high from table to table (at lightning fast speed!) making them some of the most energetic and upbeat gigs. What a tough job hey?!!? ;) Cain Manor is a wI remember when I first met Alex and Jeremy. They were at a sit down tasting at Cain Manor, preparing what they wished to have for their meal on their wedding day when I sauntered on up and imposed my magical self upon them to show them a few tricks.
Afterwards Alex said something really nice. She said that she had never liked magic or thought it was any good until seeing me. She knew she would love her guests to see and feel the same way she did just then so they booked me to perform for an hour and a half between the end of the speeches and whilst their evening guests turned up. I suppose it goes without saying that I had a great time on the day, Cain Manor is one of my favourite venues. It is also always a pleasure when you have a captive audience, especially when guests have travelled from across the globe to be there on that day. I also received a really lovely email from Alex and Jeremy after that I thought I would share some of that here: 'We would also like to take this opportunity to say that our guests are still raving about you! They said it was the best entertainment they've ever seen at a wedding and was really memorable. We can't thank you enough.' - Alexandra and Jeremy All in a days work I suppose! In all seriousness I love performing at weddings, they really are special days and to be able to be part of it and help make their day special and memorable is a gift. Thank you Alex and Jeremy, I can't wait to see the photos! Ruth and Scott's wedding was set in the beautiful Master Builder's venue in Beaulieu, Hampshire. It was a hot and sunny day and everyone was in a great mood, (they usually are at weddings!).
Their kind and relaxed nature was really fun and enjoyable, it takes performing all that more special. And to get a hand written thank you note always means so much to me. Thank you Ruth and Scott or should I say, Mr & Mrs Lawrence, I wish you many many happy years together! |
