One of my favourite sets of photos of me performing at a wedding was actually at the wedding on my home page. Maddie and James's Wedding, not only were the guests on great form, but Maddie and James were the nicest people you could meet. This was also where I would meet the amazing wedding photographer Faye for the first time.
Faye is not only a wonderful person but also a fantastic photographer you can see her work here: http://www.fayecornhillphotography.co.ukwww.fayecornhillphotography.co.uk The photos Faye shot at Maddie and James's wedding really captured a great few moments that we shared as I performed a mini show for them before the wedding breakfast. Thank you Maddie and James for having me as part of your day, and thank you Faye for capturing it and allowing me to use your photos. They are perfect!

What a life we lead as entertainers! Coombe Abbey is one amazing place! The fact that I get invited to come to venues like this is one huge perk to the job, let's face it! Originally a monastery in the 12th century it is steeped in history. Inside is a maze of stunning stone work and wood work garnished in medieval and historical artefacts. Oh, and it has a moat! Yep, a MOAT!
I was set to work the crowd of guests with my buddy Ravi, a great magician/pickpocket alongside stilt walkers and jugglers all provided by Daze Entertainment. It is safe to say a great night was had by all! Private parties make up a small percentage of the events I perform at each year, however they are always personal and meaningful, plus you end up getting to know a lot of the people and you end up having loads of fun in a way you simply cannot do at a corporate event.
Sue's birthday was celebrated at Beaconsfield Golf Club, having always been a fan of golf it was the perfect venue for Sue and her friends and family. A bit of strolling magic to warm the guests up before the dinner was a great suggestion as it always helps get the guests in the mood. It was then down to me to provide the laughter and entertainment at the tables between the courses. I genuinely love parties like this one as it was large enough that I could entertain everyone individually (it won't work that well with very small groups 10 - 15 people) but also small enough that I could spend a decent amount of time at each table, making sure everyone got to see a good amount of unbelievable magic! Thank you Sue for getting in touch, I wish you and Bear all the very best! Botleys Mansion is a stunning venue in the heart of Surrey, perfect for the wow factor! And Rory and Georgina were two of the funnest couples I have had the pleasure of performing for this year! They had me along to provide entertainment during the drinks reception and for a short time during the wedding breakfast. I was joined in the wedding breakfast by the hugely talented Encore Entertainment, the best singing waiters I have seen.
Weddings are always great fun, but when the family and guests are in great spirits and are having an amazing time it makes these performances some of the most enjoyable performances for me ever. Thank you Rory and Georgina, I had a blast performing for you and your family, I hope they all loved it too! The Grocery Aid Summer Ball at the end of June 2017 was a great evening, very fun, packed with entertainment and lots of cool things to do.
Although you are a small cog in a huge wheel at events like these, all the small cogs that turn in unison come together to make the event what it is. With face painting and glitter provided by http://www.theglitterbox.co.uk, fun balloon antics with Lord Geoffey and my most favourite caricaturist providing incredible artwork , Sara of www.saralouise.com to top it all off, the evening was a fun one had by all! I had met Elinor at a corporate event one evening, some time afterwards I received an enquiry from her asking me if I were available to attend her wedding to perform some magic for her family and friends. I of course was more than happy to oblige, who can turn down a good wedding?!!
The wedding was in North Wales in a wonderful venue Pentre Mawr Country House which was the perfect setting for the day, we were also blessed with perfect weather. Everyone and everything looked great! The guests were amazing and fun, Elinor and Tom were lovely and hospitable and if you check out my instagram, https://www.instagram.com/unbelievablemagic/ some way down the feed you will see some videos of the venue and the tricky mirror that ended up fooling me! I received some lovely comments from Tom and Elinor after the day, I thought I'd share some of them with you here: A huge thank you from both of us and everyone else at the wedding last Saturday. The magic went down an absolute treat with young and old, and even the most cynical were blown away by the tricks you performed. We had a read through the messages on the deck of cards on the Sunday morning and they were interesting to say the least! We really appreciate you driving all the way up from Surrey to perform - for us it was completely worth it! - Elinor and Tom Thanks again to you both, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and health together. veryI am always honoured to be asked to perform aboard the Saga ships, both the Pearl 2 and the Sapphire are lovely ships, perfect for that leisurely cruise over the waters of this world! I had the pleasure of performing aboard the Saga Pearl 2 recently and had a great time, as always. The clientele, the staff, the other entertainers, it is always like a big family aboard. This cruise I met some fantastic performers, Kym Purling - International Jazz Pianist, Helen Wilding - Actress/Singer/Superstar and Kevin Lee Harpist extraordinaire. We had a great time sharing performance stories, here is a bit of magic I did for Kym very late one evening! Thank you Saga, I always thoroughly enjoy myself when booked to entertain for you. I look forward to many more engagements! When you get busy performing at huge corporate events or even large weddings, gigs like this are a joy to be part of. Performing at a private party is different to any other engagement. Sometimes it can even be in a person's own home, even if it is not, private parties are full of people who are the nearest and dearest of the person or persons who are having the celebration.
This means that by the end of the performance I feel like I know that family and groups of friends pretty well. It is always touching to be brought into someone's life for an event that they are cherishing enough to celebrate. In this case it was a joint 70th birthday for John and Jackie at Warren Lodge in Shepperton. There is not much I can say about John and Jackie apart from they are two of the most lovely, friendly and caring people I have ever performed for. Such a great celebration for such great people. Thank you John and Jackie. Maddie and James are such a great couple, they are fun and always have a smile on their faces, as soon as I met Maddie she was insistent that I met her fiancé and that they would have me perform for their guests on their special day at Cain Manor.
Being a bodyguard of David Haye, James is not a small man, when you get asked if you can deal with hecklers at the pre booking meet up you know it is going to be a fun performance! The weather was wonderful, everyone looked great and the atmosphere was joyous. I mingled around for the duration of the drinks reception and stayed behind afterwards to give Maddie and James their own little private performance. I must also give a great thank you to the wonderfully talented Faye Cornhill of Faye Cornhill Photography for the great shots of James, Maddie. Check out here website if you are looking to have any photography done in the future www.fayecornhillphotography.co.uk Many thanks to you both for having me as part of your day, I had a great time with you all. You know you are going to have a great time at a wedding when you turn up and the wedding car is a Shelby Ford GT! Being a big fan of motor racing I skipped inside like a giddy school kid, eager to begin shazaming to see if I could get a ride in it!! ;) Silchester House is another wonderful Bijou wedding venue, I am very lucky to be a 'bijou partner', if I weren't I never would have met this lovely couple! Bijou also have great attention to detail and are fantastic at making the day run smoothly for all of the couples who get married in any of their venues. As I mixed and mingled around the guests I shazamed my way around to Richard's family, thankfully I am very happy to announce that I got the seal of approval from Richard's brother who was a skeptic of the highest order! Thank you Richard and Amy, I hope you are enjoying married life and that you will have many happy memories together for many many years to come! (And Richard... remember, I am always available for Christmas parties!! Nudge nudge wink wink!! Haha!) ![]() |
