You never know who you are going t meet and where! I met Ellie at a wedding fair and she knew there and then that a bit of Unbelievable Magic would be a great idea for an event she was planning that was coming up. Thankfully I was free and happy to go along!
It was the Cardinal Newman Ball a fundraiser event so it was packed full of people all having a great time. Drinks were flowing, laughter was had and some much needed money was raised! Events like this can be challenging due to things like sound levels and lighting, centre pieces on tables. However when you have been doing this as long as I have you will have encountered these obstacles many times and know the best ways to make sure your performance isn't compromised by them. It was a rip roaring few hours, one of those gigs you get out and are happy to unload your jacket, get in the car and wind the windows down on the journey back! It may have been hard work but these events are always full of energy and fun, they are fast paced and you ride from high to high from table to table (at lightning fast speed!) making them some of the most energetic and upbeat gigs. What a tough job hey?!!? ;)

Cain Manor is a wI remember when I first met Alex and Jeremy. They were at a sit down tasting at Cain Manor, preparing what they wished to have for their meal on their wedding day when I sauntered on up and imposed my magical self upon them to show them a few tricks.
Afterwards Alex said something really nice. She said that she had never liked magic or thought it was any good until seeing me. She knew she would love her guests to see and feel the same way she did just then so they booked me to perform for an hour and a half between the end of the speeches and whilst their evening guests turned up. I suppose it goes without saying that I had a great time on the day, Cain Manor is one of my favourite venues. It is also always a pleasure when you have a captive audience, especially when guests have travelled from across the globe to be there on that day. I also received a really lovely email from Alex and Jeremy after that I thought I would share some of that here: 'We would also like to take this opportunity to say that our guests are still raving about you! They said it was the best entertainment they've ever seen at a wedding and was really memorable. We can't thank you enough.' - Alexandra and Jeremy All in a days work I suppose! In all seriousness I love performing at weddings, they really are special days and to be able to be part of it and help make their day special and memorable is a gift. Thank you Alex and Jeremy, I can't wait to see the photos! Ruth and Scott's wedding was set in the beautiful Master Builder's venue in Beaulieu, Hampshire. It was a hot and sunny day and everyone was in a great mood, (they usually are at weddings!).
Their kind and relaxed nature was really fun and enjoyable, it takes performing all that more special. And to get a hand written thank you note always means so much to me. Thank you Ruth and Scott or should I say, Mr & Mrs Lawrence, I wish you many many happy years together! This is shaping up to be a great year for Unbelievable Magic. Two more successful meeting were had recently so I can now announce that I am a recommended supplier for both Warbrook House and Horsley Towers, both stunning venues that I am proud to work with. Magic really is a great form of entertainment as it is so flexible, it can be performed in lots of different settings, in different ambiances, to all walks of life. It can break down language barriers, magic is so powerful it can even break down social barriers, it doesn't matter if you are a tough guy or intellectual, good magic always has a profound effect. Click the secret page link below for a quick trick, just for fun, keep your eyes peeled and pay attention to the cards!! ;) Secret Page For You On Sunday the 12th March there is a wedding open day at Horsley Towers in East Horsley, Surrey. I will be there exhibiting and speaking with brides and grooms to be about how magic can be a great form of entertainment for your special day.
Here are three quick reasons to book a close up magician for your wedding day - Magic is an interactive form of entertainment that involves your guests and creates wonderful talking points that can help bring two families together that do not know each other. The obligatory comments of 'how did he do that?' followed by the exploration of possible methods is an easy way to start a conversation. - Magic is perfect for the moments during the day that not much is usually planned for. For example during the drinks reception and photos. Newlyweds have to leave their guests to go off and have photos as soon as the ceremony has ended. At this time music is usually played and a drink or two is had by everyone. After that, there can be a lull before the wedding breakfast, magic is a perfect way to keep the energy levels up high and make sure everyone is having fun! - Above all, magic is MEMORABLE! At every gig I perform at someone usually more than one person) has a story of when they saw great magic. These memories are usually decades old and you can still they are still fresh in the minds of the owner of these memories. This is because magic is not just seen, it is experienced. It can invoke emotions and feelings that are powerful and stick with people. These memories and experiences are what I strive to give my spectators, that is the real power of magic. It is not about making someone feel like magic is real but giving someone a real feeling from your magic that counts. So if you are around on Sunday, getting wed and wish to attend a Wedding Open Day, come along to Horsley Towers and come and say hi! I will be there all day! Unbelievable Magic will be exhibiting at Littleton Park House in Shepparton on Sunday at the Prestige Wedding Fair. They have a Facebook page dedicated to the event which you can check out here. Wedding Fairs are always a great place for me to meet people face to face so I can show them what I do. A lot of people leave entertainment as one of the last decisions for their day. Sadly this can be a mistake, have you ever been to a wedding where you stood around at times wondering what you are supposed to be doing? I know I have! It can be a real shame as everyone wants the wedding day to be perfect, yet as a just married couple you cannot be around all the time to make sure everyone is having a great time. It is a super busy day for every Bride and Groom, not only with family and friends but with photos, and other points that need attention throughout the day. This is where I can step in and make sure everyone is having a great time, laughing and being befuddled with unbelievable magic. My main goal is to create an experience for each and every guest. To make that moment as memorable as possible so they can't just go away and forget it. If you would like to know more please come along to Littleton House to speak with me directly, I would love to show you what I can do. You can also email me here or call me on 07886 102263 to talk about how I can add that buzz and element of amazement to your special day. Every February sees the largest magic convention in the world take place in Blackpool UK. 3000 or so magicians descend upon the town for a long weekend of fun and geeking out the only way we magicians know... by buying loads of magic and talking secretively about secrets!
It was early hours of the morning on Friday night when I had a tap on the shoulder, turned around and a lovely young lady called Emma (now known as Ava Beaux!) was stood in front of me saying hello. It took me a couple of moments to realise that I had met this young lady before, it was at a gig I had performed at years ago! I was performing at a party ages ago and I was told that there was someone who would love to spend a couple of moments with me as they knew a little bit of magic and wanted to learn more. I sat down at the end of the gig with Emma and went through some stuff, she showed me what she had been working on and I showed her some stuff. Little did I know how much that time I had spent with Emma would help change her. Emma is now Ava Beaux Professional Magician!!! I am so happy that she came up to me and spoke to me, it truly meant a lot, probably the best thing that happened that weekend to me (and I saw a lot of cool things!). To know that I had a little something to do with her going for it and becoming a professional magician, is an honour. It truly is an amazing thing, magic. It really has the potential to change peoples lives and give people memories that last an entire lifetime. I couldn't be happier with what I do for a job! They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. I had a great time speaking with brides and grooms to be at Heatherden Hall recently at the Prestige Wedding Fair. There are always lots of great suppliers and inspiration at wedding fairs. I will be putting together a page of suppliers I have met and would recommend myself having seen their work. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as the page is ready.
If you are getting married and would like to have a chat about how magic can add a great dynamic that is entertaining, memorable and practical please get in touch by clicking here. I will of course be at more upcoming wedding fairs and will post here to let you all know where they will be. 2017 looks like it is shaping up to be a great year! I am very happy to announce Unbelievable Magic is now a recommended supplier for Pembroke Lodge.
Pembroke Lodge is a wonderful wedding and corporate event venue situated in the middle of the gorgeous Richmond Park in Surrey. You can literally be wed and walk outside to see wild deer and other wildlife freely walking around and grazing. If you are looking for a wedding venue in the area then be sure to check Pembroke Lodge out. If you are already booked into Pembroke Lodge for a wedding and wish to speak to me about how I can add that extra something special to your day, please get in touch, click here and send me a message. Be sure to ask about my bespoke magic to give you and your guests something truly memorable. I am always humbled to work in great places, not just in amazing places around the world but also in remarkable venues. Some venues have a rich heritage and amazing history, some are ultra modern with cityscape views, some are also secretive and exclusive (these are fun!). Last night I was performing at Wentworth Club, home to the BMW PGA Championship for a wonderful collection of minds, they were all scientists! The venue is always a pleasure to perform in, I am always treated superbly and last night the ballroom looked particularly amazing! The audience were just the sort of audience you wish for, very fun and really up for falling down the rabbit hole even though all the logic in their brain was telling them not to! I also had the pleasure of performing alongside Sara Louise, a wonderfully talented caricaturist, you should definitely check her out. I have worked many times with Sara and always have fun when we are together on a gig. We also shared the limelight with Ellis Watson, a very interesting man with an amazing past! Long may this journey continue! |
